The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow

Thomasina Bateman, an antiquarian is at present writing a novel about barrows found in England. It's a record of the treasures she uncovers within. A captivating letter encourages her to travel to the small village of Bewlay in the remote countryside of England. She travels there by train, along with her assistant that same day.
The mysterious person who called her to rescue her is not present at her arrival. Her assistant never arrives. Landowners are obstinate and refuse acces to his barrow. People in the area fear her as she is a solo traveler. wears trousers.
